I take a ton of pictures, but I find myself having to go back and delete a ton of them so they don't fill up my computer. Where do you guys store all those photos? I was thinking of getting an external hard drive. I used to have a flickr pro account that I used for that purpose. I burn some photos to CDs. Just don't know the best way to do it, I hate deleting pictures but I have so many!

At first I put everything on CDs, but that's when I didn't have as many images. Eventually, I had to get an external HD because my computer filled up. That computer only had a 32 GB HD! Then I got a new computer with a ton of space. I still back up to a HD though. I also store videos on it.
This might be painfully obvious, but if you plan on taking your HD around at all, get a a portable one. I had a desktop one because I was just using it with my desktop PC for a while. Then I got a Mac and it wasn't formatted for it and I didn't want to erase everything on there. Then I got a laptop that ran Windows, so I used it with that. Anyway, I took my HD on a trip and the USB port ended up snapping off and I had to pay $100-something to have the data transferred. Like I said, obvious, but any information helps, right? The portable ones also hold a lot more data now than when I got my desktop HD.

I try and be brutal and delete "bad" photos from a batch but I usually end up with 100 or so usable pics.
I also delete all edits - once they're uploaded to Flickr, they get deleted. I keep the original SOC pic only.
I still had to get a 1TB Seagate Expansion drive, which was about £60 and so far making me feel less guilty about keeping loads of pics.

I have lots of external hard drives that I use. I try not to waste my internal hard drives for photos!

I back everything up in two different places to be sure if my laptop/harddrive dies I won't loose everything. All personal stuff goes on the laptop then backed up to ,y 500gb harddrive, all work stuff goes on the 500gb harddrive since it takes up so much space (i try to keep as little as possible on my laptop) work stuff gets backed up on a different harddrive (1tb) then each client that gets a dvd of there images I make an extra one for me also. So work stuff is backed up in 3 different places.

I'm really bad and usually keep all my photos even the bad ones. They all go on my 1 TB external harddrive. I also have photos from 2006-2008 or so on CD's/DVD's, although I didn't take as many back then. My favourites go on Flickr so I can access them quickly.

Some are online (I hate uploading things though), some are left on forever lost SD cards, and a toooon of them are on my harddrive. Everyone in my family are nerds so we have a shitton of access to more and more memory for the computer. But I'm considering just buying loads of flashdrives and storing them there. Idk.
