Tortured Panic and Maxie a bit today to do an informal portrait session. My external flash is out of batteries, though. I just threw a blanket on the couch and had a lamp on one side so the lighting is a bit harsh and uneven, but that can look kind of cool sometimes. Panic Maxie Do you guys have any tips on setting up portrait sessions with very limited equipment?

Nice pictures, I like the 'dreamy' lighting! One thing I'd say would be to close the aperture a bit more as there doesn't seem to be a deep enough depth of field. Also to help you with your composition maybe read up on the rule of thirds to give your portraits a bit more punch.

I have a bad habit of always shooting at f/1.8 I've got to branch out a little more I think! And I do need to read up on the rule of thirds again, its something I KNOW but forget to think about a lot!
